Why Plants?
I’ve been gardening and growing since I was a child. Both my maternal and paternal grandparents were avid gardeners and fortunately, they passed along much of their knowledge. It wasn’t until my thirties I realized how fortunate that knowledge and hands on experience was.
As a child, I spent my weekends digging holes to plant seeds in my grandmothers vegetable garden, or learning how to care for rare plants in my grandfathers greenhouse. The countless hours I spent surrounded by plants my entire upbringing seemed to be just a fun way to grow closer with my family.
It wasn’t until I had the chance to fully emerge myself in the botanical world that I really understood how special plants are. They can be nostalgic and comforting as I reflect on my grandparents. Growing these plants provides a way to preserve certain rare species, while enhancing my knowledge. It’s all around good for us. Watching plants grow fills us with a sense of accomplishment and gives us cleaner air to breath.
Now I’m fortunate enough to have a husband that shares my passion for collecting, and growing plants. Together we are able to travel to some beautiful places collecting new species to grow and offer in our shop.
